Gary Williams is the band's mandolinist. Gary played electric guitar (and occasionally trumpet) in various San Diego area bands for several years before he became interested in the mandolin after seeing Walt Richards perform sometime in the mid 90's. Around 1998 Gary obtained a mandolin and was able to take some lessons with Walt before moving to Santa Barbara for graduate studies in the Psychology department at UCSB. Although he still plays guitar, Gary has since switched his musical focus to the mandolin and is now fairly obsessed with both jazz and bluegrass mandolin.
